You've surely heard throughout your entire life how detrimental smoking is to your health.  It clearly has negative side effects, from the development of emphysema to potentially causing lung cancer.  It lowers the immune system and makes it much easier for one to get sick.  The effects of inhaling and exhaling smoke over and over again will catch up with your health before too long and you will be much less healthy than you should be, forgetting all of the higher risks of fatal diseases.  For this very reason alone, you should look into the best methods of quitting smoking.  Since cigarettes can be so addicting, however, it can often be very, very difficult for a person to quit.  They will usually need some form of assistance to manage it.

Stop smoking drugs are usually some of the strongest methods that you could use when you are looking for smoking cessation help.  Nicotine replacement is another common use, while others think that the best methods of quitting smoking will be through herbal supplements and mental support.  Each of these methods has benefits and drawbacks and could either work wonders or do absolutely nothing in your quest to quit smoking.  The one thing that is assured, however, is that the health risks of smoking are too much to continue and you should absolutely look into finding help for smoking cessation.

Some people decide that they are going to quit smoking “cold turkey."  If you can manage this method of smoking cessation, it can be one of the best methods of quitting smoking.  It is also the hardest because  you will be relying on nothing more than your sheer willpower.  Most people need some form of assistance to help them on their quest of quitting smoking.  It is nothing to be ashamed of; qutting smoking is a major life decision that is going to be difficult to manage.  Finding help to quit smoking does not make you any less of a person for doing so.

It may be important to understand what smoking does to your body to help you determine why quit smoking drugs and other aids will help.  When you smoke, you become addicted to the nicotine which is contained in the cigarette.  As the nicotine hits your brain, it triggers a dopamine release.  Dopamine is a chemical structure in the brain that will not only make you feel more focused, but it will relax you as well.  This dopamine release is instant and can have a significant effect on your body.  Some doctors say that within 7 seconds of your first hit of nicotine, your body will become addicted to this dopamine release.

Unfortuantely, the largest problem comes with the rest of the things in the cigarettes.  The tobacco smoke can have a devestating effect on your lungs and immune system as well as all of the other toxins which can be found in cigarettes.  The health risks of smoking far outweigh the pleasure that you get from a dopamine release.  The risk of cancer, among many other denegrative diseases, should be a good enough reason to quit smoking all by itself.

Many people will try to quit smoking through nicotine replacement.  This method will attempt to give your body the nicotine it craves through other forms, such as a chewing gum or a patch that you can wear.  Eventually, as you continue on the program, the amount of nicotine will be decreased until you no longer feel like you need it.  This can be an effective form of smoking cessation because it stops you from lighting up while still giving you the dopamine release that you crave.  Your cravings should be more manageable and the health risks of smoking will diminish.  The problem with nicotine replacement is that it can often be expensive and the temptation to hold a cigarette will still be strong in most people.

Quit smoking drugs are generally a more effective treatment.  Some of these drugs work as nicotine replacement on their own, still giving you a dopamine release without having you chew a gum or wear a nicotine patch.  These quit smoking drugs are usually offered in a stronger dosage than over-the-counter nicotine replacement and they can help you quit faster and in a way that lets you feel more confident.  Using these drugs will give you a strong advantage in  your quest to quit smoking and may end up being the tool that allows you to quit once and for all.

It is important to realize, however, that even with quit smoking drugs and nicotine replacement, it is still going to be very difficult to successfully quit smoking.  The health risks of smoking make it imperative that you do so, but you need to be prepared to tackle one of the hardest things that you've ever had to do in your life.
